Eight New Units of Accessible Housing in Butler County
It was a beautiful, sunny day to celebrate the grand opening ribbon cutting for Holly’s Edge. Inclusive Housing Resources officially opened Holly’s Edge, which consists of two, four-unit buildings – one on Holly Ave. in Middletown and one on Edgewood Drive in Trenton – on August 21, 2024 All eight units are fully accessible to serve the needs of Butler County residents with disabilities.
“Accessible, affordable housing opportunities are very limited in Butler County, making these eight units available is a welcome addition. By creating these units, we are now able to help eight more individuals with developmental disabilities find affordable housing to meet their needs,” said IHR CEO Gina Gehm.
The day was highlighted with remarks by some of our esteemed guests.
- Ohio Senator George Lang
- Ohio Representative Thomas Hall
- City of Middletown Economic Program Manager Jacob Schulte
- Ohio Housing Finance Agency Legislative Liaison Grant Miller
- Director Kim Hauck; Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities
- Superintendent Lee Ann Emmons; Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities
Both Senator Lang and Representative Hall brought proclamations for the event.
The Holly’s Edge homes feature extra-large roll-in showers, substantial storage, in-unit laundry hookups, and other amenities designed to uniquely serve this population. The strategic locations also provide access to public transportation and amenities that are often difficult for individuals with disabilities to access.
Board chairperson Rick Taylor expressed his gratitude by “thanking the IHR board members for seeing the vision, IHR supporters, especially Senator Lang and Representative Hall who have championed our cause, our partners who help us execute on our mission every day, and our funders for making these visions a reality.”
A special thanks also goes out to IHR architect and construction partners – Woeste Brothers Contractors and City
Studios Architecture.
